. 1-4 00 CD o II. Consideration should be given to the possibility that the groundwater, if not intercepted, normally would reach the Colorado River System in a reasonable time frame. An industry desiring such considera- tion must provide detailed information including a description of the topography, geology and hydrology. Such information must include direction and rate of groundwater flow, chemical quality and quantity of groundwater, and the location, quality and quantity of surface streams and springs that might be affected. If the information ade- quately demonstrates that the groundwater to be intercepted normally would reaoh the river system in a reasonable time frame and would contain approximately the same or greater salt load than if interoepted, and if no signifioant looalized problems would be created, then the permitting agency may waive the "rio-salt" disoharge requirement. III. In those situations where the disoharge does not meet the oriteria in I or II above, the applioant will be required to submit the following information for oonsideration: A. Desoription of the topography, geology and hydrology. Suoh information must inolude the location of the development, direction and rate of groundwater flow, chemical quality and quantity of ground- water, and relevant data on surface streams and springs that are or might be affected. This information should be provided for the oonditions with and without the project. B. Alternative plans that could substanti- ally reduoe or eliminate salt disoharge. Alternative plans must include: 1. Description of water rights, includ- ing beneficial uses, diversions and consumptive use quantities. 2. Deso~iption of alternative water sup- plies, including provisions for water reuse, if any. -2-
