<br />. <br /> <br />Authorizing legislation for this project has been intro- <br /> <br />duced in both Houses of Congress. The project is unanimously sup- <br /> <br />ported by the entire Congressional delegation of the state of Colorado. <br /> <br />Field hearings were held on this project by the Irrigation and Recla- <br /> <br />mation Subcommittee of the House Committee on Interior and Insular <br /> <br />Affairs in Crawford, Colorado, on April 19, 1963. It is anticipated <br /> <br />that further hearings will be held in Washington in the very near <br /> <br />future. <br /> <br />The feasibility grade investigation of this project has <br /> <br />been completed by the Department of the Interior and a copy of the <br /> <br />report transmitted to the Honorable John W. McCormack. Speaker of the <br /> <br />House of Representatives. The report was referred to the Committee <br /> <br />on Interior and Insular Affairs. <br /> <br />The estimated annual economic benefits for the Fruitland <br /> <br />Mesa Project would total $2.158.200 over the one-hundred year period <br /> <br />of analysis at 2.5 percent interest. The benefits are broken down <br /> <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Direct Benefits <br />Indirect Benefits <br />Public Benefits <br /> <br />Total <br /> <br />$ 967.000 <br />1,009,700 <br />181.500 <br /> <br />$2,158,200 <br /> <br />These are all figures contained in the feasibility report as sub~ <br /> <br />mitted by the Department of the Interior. <br /> <br />The project is not revenue producing. <br /> <br />The average annual benefits of the project compare with the <br /> <br />average annual equivalent cost in a ratio of 2.49 to 1. <br /> <br />-2- <br />
