KVlPER <br />FRUITLAlIJDMESA PROJECT - CQI,QAAPO J-- <br /> <br />Gentlemen,: <br /> <br />The Fruitland Mesa ReclamatiQn Project is an irrigation <br /> <br />project located in western Colorado about 60 Il!iles west of the <br /> <br />Continental Divide in the Gunnison River Basin of the Upper Colorado <br /> <br />River Basin. The project is located in ,the Fourth Congressional <br /> <br />District - Colorado. It is in the South ,pacific Division, Los <br /> <br />Angeles District. <br /> <br />The Fruitland Mesa Project is a participating project,Glcf <br /> <br />the Colorado River Storage Project. The project would devel,C)pfl,ows <br /> <br />of Soap, Curecanti and Crystal creeks, tributaries to the Guqni,~on <br /> <br />River. An average of 58,500 acre-feet of water would besuPPl,;i,ed <br /> <br />annually to irrigate 23,450 a,cres now inadequately sElrved. "S9ap <br /> <br />Creek would be regulated by the Soap Park Reservoir, with a "capa- <br /> <br />city of 44,670 acre-feet. Water would be delivered p~tl1e Black <br /> <br />Mesa Conduit, a conduit 10.8 miles long. Water delivered by the <br /> <br />conduit would be distributed by existing ditches. This project is <br /> <br />among the potential participating projects Whi~h were given priority <br /> <br />in the completion of planning reports by the Colorado River Storage <br /> <br />Project authorizing Act of April 11, 1956 (70 Stat. 105). <br />
