Air and Waste, Management Division <br />-..I <br />-.J The Air and Waste Management Division provides operational management and <br />01 direction of programs for the control of air pollution and hazardous and <br />toxic substances. It administers the provisions of the Clean Air Act of <br />1977; the Solid Waste Disposal Act of 1965, as amended by the Resource <br />Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976 and the Solid Waste Disposal Act <br />Amendments of 1980; the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide <br />Act, as amended by the Federal Environmental Pesticide Control Act of <br />1972; pertinent radiation activities as they relate to Region VIII; and <br />the Toxic Substances Control Act and the Comprehensive Environmental <br />Response, Compensation and Liability Act of 1980. <br /> <br />b. Water Management Division <br /> <br />The Water Management Division provides operational management and <br />direction of all water activities in the region. Programs include <br />construction grants, water quality planning, water supply, underground <br />injection control, non-point source management, water quality standards, <br />dredge and fill permit reviews, and EIS reviews. <br /> <br />c. Environmental Services Division <br /> <br />The Environmental Services Division is responsible for monitoring, <br />laboratory services, emergency response, quality assurance, and research <br />and development liaison for all program areas in the region. <br /> <br />3. Colorado Department of Local Affairs <br /> <br />The Colorado Department of Local Affairs is responsible for providing <br />support to local governments in Colorado in a number of important areas, <br />including energy impact planning and assistance, housing, law enforcement, <br />economic development, and governmental operations. With respect to <br />environmental activities, the Department of Local Affairs is responsible <br />for assist,ing the Water Quality Control Division in administering non-EPA <br />funded State and Federal wastewater facility grant programs. The <br />Department's Division of Local Government is also responsible for <br />demographic analyses and forecasting--both of which are important in <br />environmental planning activities--and for the management of the Colorado <br />Intergovernmental Review System. The Division of Local Government <br />administers the State Emergency Water and Sewer Grant funds, and is the <br />liaison for the Department's Executive Director in the administration of <br />the Hazardous Materials Incident Emergency Response Fund. <br /> <br />-18- <br />
