The Legend Editor window appears. In this window, you can select a new legend edit to or the <br />legend type. You can also edit the legend symbol size and shape or the legend labels. <br /> <br />3.6 Labeling Map Themes <br /> <br />After you have opened a map theme, you will probably want to label its attributes. The following <br />example wili explain how to label the Counties map theme. <br /> <br />], Select Map Themes> Counties. Make sure that the Counties box in the View legend is active, <br /> <br />2, Select Window> Show Symbol Window. Select the ABC button. Change the font to Aria!, 8 <br />point, bold. <br /> <br />3. Close the Marker Palette Window. <br /> <br />4. Select Theme> Auto-label. In the Label field window select Label. <br /> <br />5. Select OK. The program will place the county names on the map, <br /> <br />Note - To label map themes with large numbers of attributes (such as wells), you should query a <br />small region before placing labels to save time and computer memory, See Section 5.8.2 for <br />detailed instructions. <br /> <br />3.7 Querying Identities for Map Themes <br /> <br />You may want to find information about the layers you have opened, For example, you may have <br />opened the cities theme and wanted to know the name of a town shown'on the theme, <br /> <br />I. Select the Cities map theme. Make sure the theme is active (displayed in the legend with a box <br />around it). <br /> <br />2, Select the identify ~ icon (on the toolbar) to make it active (i.e. it wili be depressed), <br /> <br />3. The cursor will appear as -to in the map display section of the view window. Position the cursor <br />over the unknown town and click with the left mouse button, The Identify Results window wili be <br />displayed. <br /> <br />4.
