Active map themes are different from map themes that are turned on, A map theme is active if the <br />name of the theme is surrounded by a box in the k'gend. You can make multiple themes active by <br />holding down the Shift key while clicking on the :map theme names in the legend. A map theme <br />does not have to be visible to be active. Figure 6 illustrates the hydrography theme that is both <br />turned on (as shown by the check mark and the m,ap image) and active (as shown by the box <br />surrounding the name), , <br /> <br /> <br />Figure 6: Selecting the Directory Containing the Coverages <br /> <br />3.4 Rearranging the Legend <br /> <br />, <br />i <br />Arc View displays map themes in the order that they a~pear on the legend. Themes appearing at the top <br />of the legend are drawn over themes appearing lower on the legend. Therefore, you should place river and <br />well layers on top of county or crop layers so you can see ~hem. If you want to change the order in which <br />the layers appear, you should rearrange the order of the legend. <br /> <br />I. In the legend, select the map theme by clicking on it with the left mouse button. <br /> <br />2. Holding the left mouse button down, drag the map theme to its new location. <br /> <br />3. Release the mouse button. The picture in the View window will redraw itself to depict the new <br />order of the map themes. ' <br />
