,~
.-'

3 - 1

.::..;.'. Program Resu 1 Ls
-----.:.~._'L--__- _______
Cl'
C)
~

The output of this program was checked against an isolated
storage event (Plate 1) occurring in late May and continuing
through June of 1964. This storage event ls unique In that
there was no call for the passage of river flow due to high
runoff downstream of John Martin Dam. Reservoir inflow and
outflow conditlons4 are depleLed in Figure la and th.

Resuits of the theoretlcal lmplemenation of the operatlng
criteria are shown in figure 2a. Astonishingly, the storage
event failed to materlallze. A check of the inFlow data
reveals the sum of the flows of the Arkansas and Purgatoire
Rivers (measured inflow) was insufFicienL to precipitate
storage. However, the computed InFlow was more than
sufficient.

Program Format

TIle progranl fllrmdt is currently in d verificdtion rnoeje
with echo printed data lnput and calendar type tabulations of output
simillar In form to those found in the annual reports of the
Arkansas River Compact Administration. The hydrograph plots contain
days serially numbered with an indexing tahle of day [\Umhel"S given
immediately preceeding the plot. Modificatlon of the plot to print
day, month and year witl follow at a future date.
