Antelope are not known to inhabit, breed, or feed
south of the river, and there are no elk in the vicinity.

Detrimental effects, if any, of the dam and reservoir upon
the soils or bedrock geology will be minimal. There is no record
of unstable or swelling soils, slopes, cliffs, or other rock forms
in the dam and reservoir sites. There are no faults, and there
are no other geological hazards in the project area (1).

Taylor Draw Dam and Reservoir will decrease the impact of
downstream floods, both those that result from ice jams and those
that occur because of heavy runoff. When completed, the reservoir
will have a capacity of 18,350 AF of flood storage to help alle-
viate the effects of floods on lands downstream.

The White River carries a heavy load of sediment, particularly
during periods of high flows. It is recognized that about 320 AF
of sediment will settle in the reservoir annually, thereby de-
creasing the total storage capacity. The presence of the dam and
reservoir will cause 9,600 AF of sediment deposition during the
first 30 years, not all of which will accumulate in the reservoir
basin. This figure is conservative considering that the minimum
rate of sediment accumulation was assumed to be 1,000 tons per day.
This sediment rate would be reduced if other dams are built up-
stream (1).

There are no National Historic Register sites nor any known
historical landmarks on the reservoir site or in the vicinity.
Neither are there any known archeological sites in the project area.

I II-3

, ~i

~

j'.

i-
,., ,- '.lw.
