Sanitary
wastes from farm dwellings are disposed on an individual basis.
There are no public facilities for handling such wastes.

6. Education

All of the educational facilities in the vicinity of the
project area are located in the Town of Rangely. Rangely School
District RE-4 includes the westerly half of Rio Blanco County. There
are at present one elementary school for kindergarten through sixth
grade, one junior high school, and one senior high school. These
adequately handle the present enrollment of children. Rock Creek
Elementary School is the only school in the Piceance Creek basin.

Colorado Northwestern Community College is a publicly
supported two-year institution established in 1960. The campus now
contains 11 buildings serving 200 students. Present facilities could
serve a student body of 400 to 500. The college offers a two-year
curriculum which qualifies students for admission to a senior college
or university (4).

7. Utilities and Services

In the reservoir area there are no pUblic water supply,
sewage disposal or trash disposal services. A high tension power
line and a natural gas pipeline parallel CSH 64 in the reservoir
area and may need to be relocated. LP gas is available for delivery
by truck from Rangely.

II-34

.~
'-"
