.

.

GREELEY CIVIC CENTER. GREELEY. COLORADO 80631 (303) 353.6123

October 24, 1985

Honorable Hank Brown
U.S. House of Representatives
1510 Longworth House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Congressman Brown:

It is our understanding that the 99th Congress, First Session will be
scheduling a hearing on ffi 3547, the Cache la Poudre River Wild and Scenic
Designation All I. We support the efforts of those who want to preserve the
environmental values and those who want to develop the potential water sites
at reaching compromise language which now Is your proposed Bill.

This letter serves as an endorsement of ffi 3547, and we hope that this can
be entered into the record during the hearings. We feel that the compromise
proposal finally reached after years of negotiation Is the best solution to
the controversy which has surrounded your attempts at designation. The
proposed Bill Is a true compromise in that It saves 75 of the river's 83
miles for designation while leaving open two potential water storage sites,
including those sites necessary for the prospective Cache la Poudre
Project. Both sides should be commended for their perseverance in reaching
this compromise.

It is the Cjty of Greeley's Intent, then, to endorse this Cache la Poudre
River Wild and Scenic Bill which you have proposed.

w.
Cha I rman
Greeley Water and Sewer Board

WDF/ld

0913
