Comment: Although most of the major sources of salinity are not <br />on national forest lands, there would be some cases where monitoring <br />and reporting of water quality should be done to establish current <br />salinity levels and to determine any changes associated with forest <br />activities. <br /> <br />Reply: We are continually establishing salinity monitoring stations <br />where we find it necessary and not covered by the Geological Survey <br />or other agencies. Program funding to date has been directed only <br />at major sources of salinity in the basin.
