<br />..... <br />..... <br />w Replies to Comment Made by the <br />CD Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, Washington, D. C. <br />(Letter of April 28, 1976) <br /> <br />1. Comment: Pursuant to its responsibilities under Section 102(2) (C) <br />of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the Advisory Council <br />on Historic Preservation has determined that this DES demonstrates com- <br />pliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of <br />1966 but that it does not demonstrate compliance with the provisions <br />of Executive Order 11593, "Protection and Enhancement of the Cultural <br />Environment" of May 13, 1971, as implemented by the "Procedures for the <br />Protection of Historic and Cultural Properties" (36 C.P.R. Part 800). <br /> <br />Reply: The statement does not demonstrate full compliance since all <br />areas to be affected have not yet been inventoried. The Bureau is in <br />the process of obtaining surveys and evaluations of the project units <br />so that full compliance can be achieved. <br /> <br />2. Comment: In addition to these preliminary steps in cultural <br />resource management, BR is reminded that it is required to afford <br />the Council an opportunlty to comment on the undertaking pursuant <br />to Section 2(b) of Executive Order 11593, if any cultural property <br />determined eligible for inclusion in the National Register will be <br />affected by the proposed undertaking. <br /> <br />Reply: The Bureau recognizes this responsibility and makes prov1s10n <br />for obtaining Council comment by following the procedures outlined in <br />Title 36 C.F.R.
