No new lands on the Eastern Slope would be irrigated under the

Initial Development.

However. through maximum use of project fad1i ties

about one-half the supplemental water re~uirements could be furnished to

322,000 acres of inadequately irrigated land.

The plan of operatbn is

based upon the formrotion of a Conservancy District which would purchase

the irrigation I<ater enrl gell it to the ul timate users,. Thus, no def-

inite water utilization area can be delineated in the plan. Feasibility

determinations are based on the supposition that supplemental municipal

water amounting to 17,000 acre-feet could be made available to Pueblo,

Colorado Springs; and other towns in the Arkansas Valley below Pueblo

in order to satisfy the immediate nseds of thoGe communities. Of the

total municipal supply, contemplated under this plan, Colorado Springs

would ~eceive 4,000 acre-feet by e~change procedure., the necessary

works to be provided by that city, Pueblo would obtain 5,000 acre-feet

and the valley towns could be fuxnished 8,000 acre-feet by moans of a

main pipeline from the potential Pueblo Reservoir whih branch lines to

the various oi ties and to'WJlS served. ~~;.2 ,.~I t', .'. :
