<br />001691 <br /> <br />Existing water ~ights on the Western Slope of Colo~Rdo have been <br /> <br />taken into considerat10n,in the determin~tion of potential diversions. <br /> <br />Allowances have been made for the present end the maximum probable <br /> <br />future use of water on th~ Western Slope, and, only a part of the balance <br /> <br />has been assumed to be available for transmountain diversion. <br /> <br />Project operations would not interfere with the existing water <br /> <br />rights and agreement. that miGht be reached thereon on the Eastern <br /> <br />Slope. Sufficient wa.ter would be by-passed to satisfy all natural flow <br /> <br />and st.orage rights. Any divp.rdon of the upper Arkansa~ 'lIver flow for <br /> <br />project operation could be accomplished by excrumge for transmoUlltain <br /> <br />water. Water diverted for hydroelectric power generation would be <br /> <br />\ <br /> <br />returned to the river above required irrigation diversion points.
