Discussions are presently underway with respect to the continuance

of the project.

o
0'
o
_ The Project started on April 1st of last year and presently is
scheduled to continue until this April first. Under the agreement
adhered to by the agencies, a BLM range conservationist, an SCS
geologist, and a USGS hydrologist were detailed to the project.
The agencies also agreed to supply additional support at various

field offices as needed, in technical assistance, and vehicles.

The Utah Department of Agriculture has supplied office space and

clerical or administrative assistance, and project oversight and

coordination.

In the interest of efficiency and consistency, we,;~I'I!,,_'~~
'j$ The interdisciplinary and

,~'.k ~.l~"~.;t~J~r' t1:.i\~~,~..:.'~~.. ,.~~:~'1~ ;.;$u;,~,,~i(. ~~ft

interagency approach improved this already efficient method, the

team members being familiar with their agency and discipline's data
If, r./"J,
base. As with any resource based problem, we needed a basis for

discussion.

This was supplied by the USGS I SCS, and Water

Resources Council

J .3,.,"-- :<':'?",-~\l.'>4;:.~~'v't""'_"l'-:;;-1 $~-;~~';;&)';;4 .~t:~~~

(SLIDE)

This

'If-:\..~HA~ ....{.?=,J~~..k _
~...t- '<.. ,.,,- -

cale map was used for the

,;. ~"f. ~:' r 'i"f'~7
~. h_. +.,,".

All of the other

maps on the first evaluation process were of this scale or were
expanded to this scale. The map was made up in 1980 and is part of

an interstate project; there are equivalent maps of other states.

The 1:500,000 scale, for the state map enabled us to maintain a

perspective in looking at the 219 watersheds in the Basin, that

range in size from 678 acres to over 290,000 acres.
