-,.., ("......"
~4u~;

.

Access roads will be required from existing roads to the pumping
plants and other major structures. (See Figure 11-4 and 11-5.)
Access over existing farm roads will be used for the less frequently
visited structures such as surge tanks, blowoffs and air valves.

Clearing for the conduit, pumping plants, and other structures will
total about 800 acres. Applicable areas will be revegetated and or
rehabilitated as needed.

A permanent easement about 60 feet wide will be acquired for the
length of the conduit and lateral totaling 320 acres. A temporary
easement averaging about 90 feet wide totaling 480 acres will be
needed for construction in addition to the permanent easement.
Additional easements will be required at major structures. An
estimated 30 acres will be acquired in Fee Title for permanent major
structures.

It is anticipated that three construction contracts will be awarded
for construction of the Fountain Valley Conduit. It is planned that
the construction will span a 36-month period with an estimated
maximum employment of 300 construction workers. The contractors
will be required to provide their own construction camps.

.

Types of equipment to be used in construction of the Fountain Valley
Conduit include air compressors, backhoes, bulldozers, compactors,
cranes, dragline excavators, graders, hoists, jackhammers, loaders,
concrete mixers, scrapers, tractor-trailers, trucks, trenching
machines, truck cranes, welding equipment, and water trucks.

Estimated fuel consumption for construction of the Fountain Valley
Conduit is 1,800,000 gallons and lubricant use is estimated at
35,000 gallons.

Water for construction purposes will be made available for Reach 1
from Pueblo Reservoir. For Reaches 2, 3, the lateral, and the
pumping plants, the contractors will have to make agreements with
the local entities for water usage. Planned water use will be
primarily for compaction purposes and dust control.

The contract specifications may allow the contractor to use the
following pipe types.

1. Concrete pressure pipe
2. Steel pipe
3. Pretensioned concrete pipe

.

11-8
