SANDS <br />DENVER,COLORADO <br /> <br />The Colorado Fuel & Iron Corporation uses the entire output of <br /> <br />their plant for their rn"'" purposes and energy shovrn as generated by this <br /> <br />corporation in 1941 was energy furnished the Southern Colorado Power <br /> <br />Company in an emergency. <br /> <br />The Golden Cycle Mining Company, located at r,olorado Springs, <br /> <br />furnishes' the r,ity of Colorado Springs 2,500 kw. of their capacity, the <br /> <br />balanoe of their plant being reserved entirely for their own uses. <br /> <br />Power is brought into the area from Dodge City to furnish ener- <br /> <br />gy to Cimarron and Ingalls, both in Gray Coun"bJ, Kansas, and both inside <br /> <br />the area, end having an aggregate population of approximately 1,500. The <br /> <br />amount of energy that is brought in i8 not shown in the reports ,of the <br /> <br />Kansas State Corporation Commission. <br /> <br />The generating plant at Ulysses, Kansas, operated by the High- <br /> <br />lands Utilities Company, is located outside the area but furnisheS ener- <br /> <br />gy to the town of Johnson in Stanton County, which has a population of <br /> <br />approximately 500, while the trnTIl of Ulysses has a population of approxi- <br /> <br />mutely 800. <br /> <br />There is set forth the nature of the prime movers in Table B, <br /> <br />which shows the breakdown of the dependable capacity of each plant ac- <br /> <br />cording to whether the prin~ movers are steam, hydro, or internal com- <br /> <br />bustion. <br />
