<::.' 3. C:lJnarron Sub-basin. The groundwater depletion problem in the extreme
C"
~ soathwest portion of the area is in the same status and situation as that reported
~

~ for the Upper Arkansas sub-area. The basic problem is one of management which local

interests are currently studying. The water quality problem in the Oklahoma area

is also covered in the authorized program enumerated for the Lower Arkansas sub-basin.

Review Procedures

Under provisions of the approved MOA, the problem identification has been

delegated primarily to each state representative and each state has carried out

the public participation in accordance with their own procedures and directives.

In each instance, the problem identification represents the collective views of

the state and the public they represent. Review procedures and inputs to the

problem identification include interested and concerned state and local entities,

interagency and state coordinating groups and concerned private interests. Input

and review was also obtained through the federal members and advisors to the

work group. Finally, the Ad Hoc Committee has been provided the opportunity to

review the problem identification as well as the concerned public attending the

committee meeting.

37'
