<br />Location.--Water-stage recorder. 1at 37004'42", long 105045'22", in sec. 22, T. 33 N., R. 11 E., on
<br />right bank just downstream from highway bridge, 6 miles north of Colorado-New Mexico State line,
<br />10 miles east of Lobatos, and 14 miles east of Antonito. Datum of gage is 7,427.63 ft above mean
<br />sea level. datum 1929.
<br />
<br />DrainaKe area.--7,700 sq mi, approximately (includes 2,940 sq roi in closed basin in San Luis Valley).
<br />
<br />Avera~e discharge.--31 years (1900-30), 846 cfs (598.400 acre-ft per year)j 47 years (1931-77) 405 cfs
<br />(293,400 acre-ft per year).

<br />Extremes.--1899-l977: Maximum discharge observed, 13,200 cfs June B, 1905, (gage height, 9.1 ft),
<br />from rating curve extended above 8.000 cfs; no flow at times in 1950-51, 1956.

<br />Remarks.--Records good except those for winter months, which are fair. Natural flow of streams
<br />~cted by transmountain diversions, storage reservoirs, ground-water withdrawals and diversions
<br />for irrigation. and return flow from irrigated areas.

<br />Los Ojos. and at mile 9.7. Datum of gage is 7,196.29 ft above mean sea level. Prior to Apr. 1,
<br />1971 at site 900 ft downstream.
