The Public Works Administration (PWA) then announced in <br />,1~3$ that it would assist in flood and' irrigation control to <br />10 <br />areas needing this belp. The result pf these meetings of the <br />Arkansas Valley Ditch Association, Arkansas Valley Chamber of <br />COllllllerce, and Western Slope representat:i, ves was a formal appli- <br />11 12 <br />cation to the Interior Department for aid. A 1$0,000 dollar <br /> <br />grant was applied for, to begin transmpuntain diversion of surplus <br />water mainly from the Gunnison Watershed.
