The publics that will be considered are the desert

;
I
I
,
~ I

residents, special interest publics and the general public.

Compatibility with other local, county, state and federal govern-

ment agencies will also be analyzed for each recommendation.

. I

Each recommendation will be considered by how manageable it is

with regard to cost, manpower, and responsibility.

Finally, recommendation will be viewed, looking at the total

desert with regard to balancing the plan. This will insure that

decisions will be based on a desert wide perspective.

This evaluation as well as additional information will become

part of the last element of the planning process. The Environ-

mental Statement: This document will accompany the final plan

recommended to the Secretary of the Interior.

With all the data gathered, analyzed, and evaluated, a draft plan

will be developed and presented to the public for their review.

A final plan will then be drafted and recommended to the Secre-

tary.

In conclusion, I feel the future of the California Desert will

be greatly influenced by this planning effort. Many individuals,

institutions and ~rganizations are concerned and hopefully many

of their expectations can be met.

.

C-16
