This is the alternative p~oposed by the pro~ent. Under
this alternative the Forest service would iss e a Special
Use Permit to allow developnent of a downhill ski area on
National Forest System land in the area COImlO y known as
Windy Pass. This ski area would have a capac ty of 11,750
skiers-at-one-time. With this alternative, it is also
proposed that the portion ,of u.s. Highway 160 which passes
through the proposed base area of the d elopment be
realigned subject to approval of the Feral Highway
Administration and the Colorado Department of Highways.
Private land will also be developed to accon te a four
season resort.
I

This alternative is the same as AlternatiJe Two above,
except it would not allow development of th back bowls.
The ski area would have a capacity of 10,000
skiers-at-one-time. With approval of the F deral Highway
Administration and the Colorado Department of ighways, that
portion of U.s. Highway 160 which passe through the
proposed ski base would be realigned. pri ate land will
also be developed to accanmodate a four seaso resort.

Alternative Two is the Forest Service's preferred alternative.

Alternative Two:

Alternative Three:

Comments regarding this Revised Draft Environmental Impact stat nt should be
sent to the Forest Supervisor by AUG 25 1\l86

ii
