!lli!h

.

The Modified Transmission System of the C.R.S.P.Fig. 1..

as proposed by the Bureau of Reclamation included the following

components in Utah:

Two 138 kv. lines Vernal to Springvil1e (provo)
One 13~ kv. Flaming Gorge to Hyrum
One 138 kv. line Hyrum to springville (Provo)
One 138 kv. line Glen Canyon to Sigurd & Gunnison
One 138 kv. line from sigurd to Fillmore
One 138 kv. line from Escalante to Paragonah & St. George

The Utah Power and Light company has a 230 kv. transmission

line from Salt Lake City to Sigurd, and is cOIlUllitted to extending

this line south to the Utah State boundary where it will be connected

with a 230 kv. line of the Arizona Public Service Company. It is

contemplated that the latter line will be interconnected with the

C.R.S.P. power system at Glen Canyon. The utah Power and Light

company contends that a second 230 kv. circuit between Glen Canyon

and Sigurd will be required, possibly by about 1970.

It is obvious that an interconnection at Glen Canyon with

the North-South 230 kv. transmission lines proposed by the Utah Power

and Light Company, and the Arizona Public Service Company, will

increase the stability and amount of power that can be transmitted

over these lines. The utah Power and Light Company has an extensive

subtransmission system in Utah which is connected with all of the

preference customers in that area.

Regionl Director Clinton proposed a transmission pooling

. arrangement in Utah, similar to the arrangement proposed in Colorado,

19
