Preconstruction planning is underway on Stockton and .Kaysinger Bluff
Reservoir Projects. Planning on Stockton has reached a stage that
construction can be initiated in 1963 if-funds are made available.
On Kaysinger Bluff Project in addition to active preconstruction plan-
ning, an investigatTon relative to increased conservation pool and
inclusion of power in the project has beeh carried on during Fiscal
Year 1962 and a recommendation for such change at Kaysinger Bluff is
now before Congress. In addition, to coordinate with state Highway
work, funds have been made available in connection with a State under-
taking to relocate a State Highway out of the reservoir area. Planning
ldll be continued and, if funds are made available, construction can be
initiated on the Kaysinger Bluff Project in 1964.
In the following paragraphs is given a brief description of projects
which are part of the overall program of development of the basin but
are not closely related in their operation to other projects.

At Sheridan, JIyoming, the ..,ork on channel improvements and levees is
underway in the lower portion of Big Goose Creek and in a short reach
of Little Goose Creek near its confluence with Big Goose Creek. Work
on the upstream portions of Little Goose Creek and Big Goose Creek is
expected to be accomplished in Fiscal Years 1963 and 1964.

At Sioux City, rOlfa, the Floyd River Project is well started. Initial
work is on the relocation of railroads and the construction of bridges
to span the new channel. During Fiscal Year 1962 work was started on
channel and levee work downstream from 18th Street. Incidentally,
local people at Sioux City put up a successful fight against high
flows on both the Floyd and Big Sioux Rivers resulting from melt of
the winter accumulation of snow.
along the lower reaches of the Little Sioux and its tributaries is
about 85 percent complete. Completion of the project is scheduled
