In addition, a WSCC representative attended a 1981 meeting of MAPP's Environmental Committee to enhance liaison between the two Councils. 1 I I I 1 I I I I I 1 i I I I I I J I 6 Procedures have been established for gathering operating information utilizing the Operations Committee's voice and facsimile communication network. These procedures provide a swift and coordinated means for obtaining factual information from operating personnel, disseminating the facts to Member Systems, and releasing timely and uniform information to the news media. The committee is also responsible for advising the news media of noteworthy developments regarding regional operating practices and WSCC actions in which there is public interest. During 1981, the committee updated its On-Call Roster to facilitate around-the-clock dissemination of WSCC information. Pertinent information regarding the region's bulk power system disturbances was routinely compiled and distributed to the Member Systems for release to the news media. The Council's list of media representatives and opinion leaders was also updated for disseminating WSCC and NERC information. The committee also initiated preparation of its 1982 WSCC "Information Brochure" and has made plans to issue a small pamphlet describing the purpose and activities of WSCC. Other forms of WSCC coordination include participation in North American Electric Reliability Council activities and liaison with the U.S. Department of Energy and the Western Conference of Public Service Commissions. WSCC is continuing its established procedure of inviting representatives of the State Public Utility Commissions, U.S. Department of Energy and the California Energy Commission to WSCC's Standing Committee meetings and the Council's Annual meeting. In addition, representatives of the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service are also invited to the Council's Annual meeting. During 1981, representatives of Mexico's Comision Federal de Electricidad were invited to attend meetings of the Planning Coordination Committee and Operations Committee. Through participation in the many activities of WSCC, the Member Systems are accomplishing the vital coordination necessary to maintain the reliability and adequacy of the present and future power systems in the WSCC region.
