NOTES ON SECOND 1958 MEETING COORDINATING COMMITTEE OF MISSOURI RIVER MAIN STEM RESERVOIR OPERATIONS ."." 1. On September 18, 1958, the Coordinating Committee held its annual Autumn meeting in the Missouri River DiviBion's 3rd flood con- ference room in the Farm Credit Building, Omaha, Nebraska. Attendance is listed on Appendix A. 2. Mr. Pafford opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m. stating that the South Dakota representative, Mr. Grimes, was unable to attend; however, he had expressed his views in a long telephone conversation and his views would be presented at appropriate times during the course of the meeting. 3. Notes on Previous MeetinR. The notes on the April 30, 1958, meeting were approved with no changes (Mr. Grimes had concurred by telephone). Mr. Pafford requested that each representative strike out the word "Draft" from the minutes mailed them and consider them as final. 4. Specia.l Report on Public Meeting. The next item on the agenda, the specia.l report on the April 29, 1958, public meeting, was taken up. The need for such a report had been discussed at the April 30 meeting with the final decision deferred unti1 further consideration of the record of the pub1ic meeting. By 1etter dated June 11, 1958, the Chairman had furnished committee members the complete transcript of the public meeting, notes on the Apri1 30 meeting of the Committee and a copy of a 1etter from Mr. Smith, dated 12 May 1958, pointing out the need for a specific repJ,y to the points raised during the pub1ic meeting. In his 1etter the Chairman advised that as a result of a series of telephone conversations, Committee members Messrs. HOisveen, Grimes, Smith, and J. C. A1exander had v01unteered to serve on a special task force with Mr. J. R. Wa1ker and Mr. R. J. Pafford as representatives of the Bureau of Rec1aJnation and Corps of Engineers to draft.a specia1 report. This task force held two meetings, one in Omaha and the other in conjunction with the St. Paul meeting of the MBIAC. The draft of the special report was furnished to Co~ttee members by letter dated September 9, 1958. All members had time to critically review tIle draft before the meeting and the proposa1 to complete the report during the course of the meeting by a step-by-step detailed review was adopted. Most of the morning was devoted to rev;l.sing and completing the report. 5. Considerable discussion was devoted to alternate means of dis- seminating the special report.
