On July 10, 1959, the Bureau 'nvited the regional electric
utilities and other interested parties to m et with them and give con-
sideration to the problem of integrating th operation of the Colorado
River Storage Project plants with the oth r generating and transmis-
sion facilities in Arizona, Colorado, New exico, Utah and Wyoming.
At this meeting, the Bureau presented it pr posed 345,000 volt, single-
circuit transmission system for this proje t.

After reviewing the information pres nted by the Bureau, engi-
neering studies made during the past fiv years by the region's in-
vestor-owned utilities were brought up to ate. During October, 1959,
these utilities presented a comprehensive t ansmission plan for trans-
porting project power to the Bureau and pr ference users (Municipals,
REA s and other public electric systems i the area).

This combination plan, which is basic lly a multi-circuit, 230,000
volt system, provided for both utility an federal transmission lines
to fully utilize the present and future tr nsmission facilities of the
area without duplication.

Later, these interested parties agreed make a joint engineering
study of electric transmission problems reI ted to the Colorado River

5
