I have <br /> <br />never made that recommendation and do not consider that to be a <br /> <br />viable alternative. As I testified last year, such an acquisiti <br /> <br /> <br />would be so costly that the project would probably fail the cost <br /> <br />benefit feasibility test, litigation arising from the condernnati <br /> <br />of private lands would be expensive, and the taking of private <br /> <br />land would adversely affect the county tax rolls. <br /> <br />I am encouraged by the tone of the EIS and I am hopeful <br /> <br />that this optimistic stance will facilitate the early completion <br /> <br />of the project. Attached with my statement which I will leave <br /> <br />with you today, Mr. Robison, are copies of reviews from the <br /> <br />state Department of .griculture, the Game and Fish Department. <br /> <br />and Department of Economic Planning and Development. <br /> <br />17 I appreciate the opportunity to submit these comments <br /> <br />18 and I'm sorry that I have almost lost my voice from a beautiful <br /> <br />19 cold. <br /> <br />Thank you very much, sir. <br /> <br />20 <br /> <br />MODERATOR: Governor, thank you very much.
