1 The Little Snake River Conservation District furnishes

2 technical services to all of the project area plus some two

3 million acres surrounding it. The lands in Routt and Moffat

4 counties in Colorado. and Sweetwater county in Wyoming, are ser-

5 viced by a Service Area Agreement with the conser~ation districts

6 involved.

7 Our district office is staffed under an agreement with

8 the U.S.D.A. Conservation Service. At the present time we have

9 one full-time District Conservationist, one part~time clerk, and

10 one part-time Conservation Technician. We have available on a

11 scheduled basis sPecialists in soils, range, forestry. agronomy.

12 engineering, geology, wildlife and biology.

In our coordinated planning efforts on all lands involve';;)

14 in a unit we use the expertise of all agencies involved, such as

13

15 the Forest Service, Wyoming Fish and Game, and the Bureau of

16 Land Management. With the construction of the project we can

17 foresee a greater work load for our districts in all aspects of

18 our conservation programs. We believe that our district's needs

19 have been ove~looked by the draft statement.

The National Environmental Policy Act was passed by

21

Congress and the Senate, innocently intending government agencies

22 factor environmental considerations into their decisions. This

23

should not be interrupted to overwhelm national policy, govern-

24 ment decisions and the private economy.
