4 Reclamation analyze these reservoirs which are constructed by

'5 the Colorado, Division of Wildlife using the same criteria that

6 have been used for reservoirs proposed to be constructed by

7 irrigators. Concerning Chapter D, all of our discussion is

8 oriented towards Chapter D. We believe that on page A-24 or

9 A-23, that the Bureau of Reclamation has worked with the Coloradc

10 Division of wildlife and especially on the recommendation of

II 16.000 acres of land for mitigation. The statement is made, how-

12 ever, that this is -- that this is consistent with the policy

13 of the state of Colorado and gentlemen, it is not. The Governor

14 of the state of Colorado has proclaimed in his goals and object-

15 ives for Colorado, long range growth Executive Order of SeptembeI

16 of 1976, that agriculture is a renewable resource vital to the

17 state's economy. We must preserve and enhance the agriculture

18 component of our economy, prevent unnecessary conversion of pri-

19 mary agricultural land and water suitable for irrigation. The

20 withdrawal of 16.000 acres on a long-term basis has not been

21 analyzed as to its adverse effects and we request that it be so

analyzed. ,ve believe that there are many in opposition in the

23

state of Colorado to present and future irrigation in the state.

They cite many environmental reasons for this when in fact they

25

are opposed to irrigation. agriculture, and intend to use the
