The Bureau of Reclamation should budget sufficient <br /> <br />N <br />CJl <br />00 <br />l\) <br /> <br />funds for research in the area of evaporation pond cost reduction. <br /> <br />Funds should be budgeted for the Bureau of Land Management in <br /> <br />the amount of $200,000 to continue its investigatory work on <br /> <br />measures to reduce salt contributed by natural resource lands. <br /> <br />Department of Agriculture - The Soil Conservation service and <br /> <br />the Agricultural Research Service should continue their present <br /> <br />salt source studies and research efforts at their current funding <br /> <br />level of about $700,000. The Department should actively seek <br /> <br />authority and funding for the purpose of financing the installation <br /> <br />of needed on-farm improvement measures for salinity control as <br /> <br />recommended by the studies being performed. <br /> <br />Environmental Protection Agency - The Agency should vigorously <br /> <br />support the recommendations herein for necessary authorizations <br /> <br />and funding for the Departments of Interior and Agriculture as <br /> <br />being consistent and compatible with the goals and objectives of <br /> <br />the Standards for Salinity and Plan of Implementation for Salinity <br /> <br />Control adopted by each of the Colorado River Basin States. <br /> <br />6 <br />
