<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />REPORT ON COLORADO RIVER BASIN <br />SALINITY CONTROL PROGRAM <br /> <br />N <br />Ul <br />...J <br />-...J <br /> <br />by <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity <br />Control Advisory Council <br />July 22, 1976 <br /> <br />Public Law 93-320, the "Colorado River Basin Salinity Control <br /> <br />Act of 1974" authorized construction, operation and maintenance of <br /> <br />certain works in the Colorado River' Basin to control the salinity <br /> <br />of water available in the Colorado River for use in the United states <br /> <br />and Mexico. Section 204 of the Act established a Colorado River <br /> <br />Basin Salinity Control Advisory Council. The Council is comprised <br /> <br />of no more than three members from each state appointed by the <br /> <br />governor. A Charter for the Council was approved by the Secretaries <br /> <br />of the Interior and Agriculture and the Administrator, Environmental <br /> <br />Protection Age~cy on February 6, 1976 and revised June 22, 1976. <br /> <br />This Charter further defines the activities of the Council. <br /> <br />Membership & Functions of the Council <br /> <br />The Council currently consists of 20 members from the seveL <br /> <br />basin states. The current membership is shown on Attachment A. <br /> <br />The Council is to advise the secretaries of the Departments of <br /> <br />Interior and Agriculture and the Administrator of tlw Environmental <br /> <br />Protection Agency on all matters relating to efficient and timely <br /> <br />planning and execution of the salinity control measures and <br /> <br />procedures specified in Public Law 93-320, Title II. The Council's <br /> <br />duties include receiving reports from Interior and making suggestions <br /> <br />on the plans and progress of the salinity control activities; reviewing <br /> <br />and commenting on research activities related to salinity control; <br /> <br />1 .w <br />
