Net Farm Income. The EIS states in Section C-1c that net farm
income would be increased by $8,848,000 annually. However if the
total increase in Indian and private farm incomes are added, the
total comes to only $2,823,000. Even with the addition of 68
private on-farm jobs'and 80 on-farm tribal jobs, the total comes
to only $3,785,000. The procedure for determining this increase
in total net farm income needs to be clarified.

2. Large Lot Housing Development. Section B-2h implies that
Senate Bill 35 controls the subdivision of the 40 acre parcels
described in that section. In actuality, this bill does not
affect any subdivision of land which is 35 acres or greater in
size. To state that "Senate Bill 35 (1972) extended the definition
of 'subdivision' to include practically any new land development"
is incorrect.

Overall the Animas-La Plata Project will have a very positive impact on
both the agricultu~e of this region and the state as a whole. For this
reason the Colorado Department of Agriculture strongly supports the project
as proposed in the Final Environmental Impact Statement.

MS:mlb
