<br />,~ n "'Pt:-; <br />",) v ~, \..i <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CITY OF BRIGHTON <br /> <br />December 5,195l <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br />---------- <br /> <br />V~l~S the City Council of the City of Brighton has been informed that the <br />Department of Interior through the Bureau of Reclamation proposes to construct <br />a flood control and 'later conservation basin near F:>rt !,!organ at a site called <br />the tiarroVls Site, and <br /> <br />VnITREAS, the City Council has also been informed that a flood control dam has been <br />approved for construction by the Army Engineers at a site near the junction of <br />Plum Creek and t~e South Platte River above Denver known as the Chatfield Site. <br /> <br />NCU TH&~EFO~ BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brighton that the <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board be requested: <br /> <br />1. To withhold approval of constr,uction of a reservoir at the Narrows Site until <br />a complete investigation is made of the feasibility and cost of constructing a <br />large n'zober of small reservoirs on the tributaries 'of the South ~latte River to <br />prevent damage all along the stream. <br /> <br />2. To request the Bureau of Reclamation to give consideration to moving the <br />Narrows Reservoir to a nearby site upstream to permit construction on a smaller <br />plan to prevent damage to existing eoonomy. <br /> <br />3. To take all necessary steps to obtain the construction of the Chatfield flood <br />control dam before any work is done on the construction of the Narrows flood con- <br />trol dam. <br /> <br />4.
