It was requested that each agency submit a
priority list of ten watersheds they determined were most in
need of detailed evaluation in Phase II of this project.
The eight watersheds evaluated in Phase II of this project
were chosen from these lists. The SCS and BLM watershed
selections resulted in agreement in the top four watersheds
and a coordinated decision was made on the next four
watersheds. All the evaluated information was found to be
of use by the agencies in the decision making process. The
ratings fell in a range between a low rating of 3 and a high
rating of 11. The selected watersheds were not all in the
highest rated categories. All the Phase I data as well as
social, funding potential, political, geographical agency
work load and other pertinent considerations were part of
the selection process. The Phase I inventory gave managers
a detailed resource evaluation tool that permitted rapid
and informed decisions to be made regarding potential for
improved land treatment in all the watersheds in the
Colorado River Basin.
