The Ak-Chin CRSP Contract for summer
season capacity is now equal to 5060 kw., which includes 1160 kw. of
peaking capacity without energy and 3500 kw. of winter season capacity
with energy.

The summer energy allocation is somewhat short of our pumping energy
needs, and we must then utilize our agreement with ED #3/Arizona Public
service, and take the very expensive steam-generated energy. Without
the CRSP contract, our Ak-Chin Farms would have had a very difficult
time, and the Ak-Chin Indian Community's goal of economic self-suffi-
ciency would have had a serious set back. We find that recent steam-
generation costs are over double that of hydro.

As a preference customer, the Ak-Chin Indian Community is a member of
the Irrigation & Electrical Districts Association of Arizona, and
through it, the Colorado River Energy Distributors Association.

We urge you to adopt the recommendations of these Associations in your
new Marketing Criteria. We look forward to working with you on the
possible contract options that have been discussed between our Associa-
tions and your office, and we will cooperate in anyway we can ~o further
this close communication.

The Ak-Chin Indian Community, again, thanks you, for the opportunity
to comment on the proposed criteria.

cc:

!1r.
