Eleven of our members hold
contracts with the United States for CRSP power and energy
totalling 51,800 kW for the summer season and 14,450 kW for the
winter season. These contracts in most cases provide a
substantial amount of the power and energy required for the
groundwater pumping done for agricultural purposes by these
preference entities.

IEDA is a member and member bf the Board of Directors of the
Colorado River Energy Distributo~s Association. Through that
association we have partioipated ;in prior forums and hearings on
these criteria and have met with you on several occasions on
behalf of our members. IEDA and its members actively participate
in and support CREDA and heartily endorse the comments that CREDA
is submitting to you on these critieria.

Without repeating the commen~s that CREDA has already made,
we wi:sh to emphasize certain aspe'cts of those comments that are
of prime concern to our members.

1. Renewal of existin1 CRSp.Allocations. IEDh supports the
renewal of ex~sting CRSP al ocations both to its own members and
to other existing CRSP contractors in the Southern Division and
the Northern Division of the pres~nt marketing area. At a time
when many people felt hydroelectr~c energy from this project was
too expensive in comparison to other resources then available,
thesp. entities contracted for this power and energy and enabled
the United States to develop funds for further work on the CRSP
as well as repayment of the debt owed for building the project.

32

i
I
I
,
I
..
