4. GARNE'IT RESERVOIR.-The proposed site for this reservoir is
on Pottawatomie creek, north of Garnett in Anderson county. The
dam would be located where U. S. Highway 59 ,crosses the valley and
would provide storage sufficient to control 334 square miles of drain-
age area. Preliminary estimates of storage capacity are as follows:
flood control 111,000 acre-feet, silt reserve 16,000 acre-feet, and
conservation storage 10,000 acre-feet..
RESERVOIR PROJECTS PROPOSED FOR INVESTIGATION

1. FORT SCOTT RESERVOJR.-In the development of a state water
plan, a study should be made of the floodproblems'on the Marmaton
river at Fort Scott. In 1915 Fort Scott experienced its worst flood,
and damages to property were exceedingly heavy. Two lives were
lost in this flood and property damages were estimated to be approxi-
mately $250,000 in Bourbon county. Some study has been made
by the U. S. Army Engineers of a possible reservoir site west of
Fort Scott on the Marmaton river.
Before any definite plan of flood protection can be decided upon
for Fort Scott and the adjacent area, more detailed information is
needed on storage requirements and 'reservoir benefits.
2. HILLSDALE RESERvolR.-Further investigation will be made of
the benefits from a reservoir located on upper Bull creek in Miami
county near Hillsdale. A reservoir at this location would materially
reduce flooding on Bull creek with probable benefits extending to
the lower Marais des Cygnes River.
