<br /> <br />':) (5) the prevention <br />) state; <br />." <br />(,0 (6) the prevention <br />~ the state; <br />..... <br /> <br />of thewaste,of the water supplies of the <br /> <br />-I <br />I' <br />I <br />I <br />I' <br />I <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />'i <br />1 <br />I <br />1i <br />, <br />, <br />ai <br />l <br />I <br />I, <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />of the pollution of the water supplies of <br /> <br />(7) the efficient, economic distribution of the water supplies <br />of the state; and <br /> <br />(8) the sound coordination of the development ,of the water <br />resources of the state with the development of the other <br />resources of the state. <br /> <br />The general goals and objectives of the State of Kansas that are <br />deemed desirable for the achievement of the purposes set forth in the <br />State Water Plan and that serve as guides for all agencies of tne <br />state relative to their responsibilities with respect to the water <br />resources of the state whenever physical and economic conditions <br />permit, are as follows: <br /> <br />(1) The inclusion of 19,000,000 acres of land in the state <br />within watershed programs; <br /> <br />(2) the design of proposed levees and dikes so as to reduce <br />flood risks in agricultural areas to a chance of occurrence <br />in any one year of lO percent or less; <br /> <br />(3) the design of proposed levees and dikes so as to reduce <br />flood risks in urban areas to a chance of occurrence in <br />anyone year of one percent or less; <br /> <br />(4) the design of proposed storage structures for the protec- <br />tion of agricultural areas so as to provide sufficient <br />capacity to control the volume of a flood having a chance <br />of occurrence in anyone year of four percent or less; <br /> <br />(5) the design of proposed storage structures for the protec- <br />tion of urban areas to provide sufficient capacity to <br />control the volume of a flood having a chance of <br />occurrence in'any one year of two percent or less; <br /> <br />(6) the development of additional water to meet the increasing <br />needs of Kansas munictpalities; <br /> <br />(7) the development of additional water to meet the increasing <br />needs of Kansas industries; <br /> <br />(8) the development of additional water to meet the needs of <br />Kansas irrigators; <br /> <br />20 <br />
