Streamflows in the <br />Uncompahgre River would be increased. <br />Largest decreases and increases would <br />occur during the winter months. <br /> <br />Water supplies to irrigated lands would <br />not be affected. Development would be <br />operated to provide required demands to <br />irrigation system before meeting <br />hydropower demands. <br /> <br />Without mitigation, development <br />would increase bank erosion along the <br />Uncompahgre River downstream from the <br />proposed tailrace. However, mitigation <br />would help control the erosion. <br />Gunnison River channel impacts ~ould be <br />less than would occur in the Uncompahgre <br />River; .how~ver, changes presented in <br />this FEIS to theOncompahgre would be <br />considered irreversible. <br /> <br />periodic ice accumulation would <br />occur during severely cold periods. <br />During summer months; water temperatures <br />in the Gunnison River below the North <br />Fork confluence would increase during <br />low flow periods. Temperatures in .the <br />Uncompahgre River would decrease in the <br />summer below the powerplant and <br />increase in the summer through the city <br />of Montrose. <br /> <br />Water quality in the Uncompahgre River <br />would improve below the proposed <br />tailrace. Water quality would degrade <br />in the Uncompahgre River between the <br />South Canal and the tailrace.
