<br />o <br />Co>') :~ <br />~ .. <br />.!-'" <br />CJ;) <br /> <br />Environmental Protection Agency <br />Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Program <br />Accomplishments for Fiscal Year 1998 <br /> <br />During fiscal year 1998, EPA assistance to the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Program <br />involved the following activities: <br /> <br />. Sent a letter to the Under Secretary of Agriculture J ames Lyons requesting that an increase <br />in funding through EQIP be provided to the Colorado River Salinity Control Program. <br /> <br />. Provided the Forum with a list of tribal contacts and basic information for Tribes in the <br />Colorado River Basin. The information provided included the status of each Tribe's <br />development of water quality standards. - <br /> <br />. Continue to review Monitoring and Evaluation reports from the NRCS for its projects within <br />the Basin. Efforts are being undertaken to assess future monitoring needs for each salinity <br />project. For a number of projects the required information to determine affects of the <br />project on fish and wildlife habitats may now be available. <br /> <br />. The EP A is working through the process of approving the standards adopted by the states in <br />their triennial reviews, including the adoption of the 1996 Review. <br /> <br />. Provided information to the Forum regarding potential changes in EPA's regulations <br />regarding water quality standards and provided information on the Total Maximum Daily <br />Load (TMPL) program. <br /> <br />. Suppotted efforts led by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to <br />raise the issue of possible collaboration with the salinity program in efforts to reduce <br />selenium. <br /> <br />,J <br /> <br />;~t <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />, <br />"} <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />"---, <br />
