Uinta Basin, Big Sandy River, Lower Gunnison Basin,
and McElrtto Creek units. Under this activity. USDA is monitoring the effects of the salinity
control prqgram on salt load reduciions and wildlife habitat as well as the program's economic
impacts. USDA and Extension Service are evaluating the effects of the salinity program in the
Uintah Ba~in. Historical data is being evaluated to determine effectiveness of data collection
and our ability to measure effects. Decisions will be made to modify monitoring to collect
appropriate data that will reflect actual changes in environmental indicators.

;i
~
:i

,$
'~'l

~1

Concluding Comments

f
.,
,

Significant numbers of farmers and ranchers in the six project areas continue to inquire about
implementing salinity control activities in EQIP through NRCS field offices.
