Development Qf CRM plan in coordination with the Uinta County Conservation District for
watershed improvements.

. ImplementatiQn of riparian and grazing management systems to. improve Qverall water
qua!tty and riparian vegetative vigQr; the improvement in watershed management will
improve water quality and reduce salt loading.

. Impri>vements in the WiIlQW Creek AlIQtment including: a Spike Treatment in spring 1998
(1500 acres); reservQir maintenance and rehabilitatiQn (reseeding); changes in grazing .
management to. reduce impacts to riparian areas during the hot seasQn and prQmQte
vegetative cover on streambanks. This will effectively increase the life Qf the structures,
and further stabilize the channels of Horse Creek and Willow Creek, reducing erosion and
salt loading into. the main stem Black's Creek.

,)i
;
,~~
,
)!
,';
,),
1

In the Cumberland/Uinta area, on the Cumberland and Twin Creek Allotments, FY-98 CRM
activities include:

\~;

. Implementation of riparian and grazing management systems to improve Qverall water
quality and riparian vegetative vigQr

.

Capital improvements. including constructlQn of fences in Red Eye and the Bear River
Divide, installatiQn Qf the FQssil Pipeline. bentonite treatment Qn several reservQirs; grazing
modlficatiQns in the Ryckman, Chicken, and Little Muddy Creek watersheds (all tributaries
to. the Black's Fork) that defer use and reduce impacts from grazing.

:~.
'J)

.'.-;:

A deferred grazing system was also implemented in the Twin Creek AlIQtment. Significant
improvement in residual cover has been Qbserved following these changes in grazing use. This
residual grpund CQver significantly reduces runQff and erosiQn PQtential Qn thQse allQtments where
the new system has been implemented.

FY-98, work in the Moxa Arch MitigatiQn Area involved mQwing approximately 1,500 acres Qf
sagebrush to. prQmQte regeneratiQn of native grasses, and rehabilitatiQn in Wheat Creek Meadows
included restoratiQn Qf reservoirs to enhance wetland habitat.

-i

',;'

<!

-1
J

19

'I
