<br />. <br /> <br />- 8 - <br /> <br />RITER: The Arkansas Valley's part in the project plan is Simply this; any <br />water for Gunnison-Arkansas must come out of hold-over storage in these reservoirs. <br /> <br />SCHMIDT: The construction.of the Curecanti Reservoir will be most detrimen- <br />tal to Fish and Wilq. Life and if you are able to find some site other than the <br />Curecanti, the Fish~and Wild Life Service would like to see this done. <br /> <br />CHARLES J. BEISE: I have a resolution which I would like to offer for adop- <br />tion by those present. <br /> <br />"RESOLVED that we ci ti2iens of the Arkansas Valley of Colorado <br />herebY, approve the principal of the hold-over storage plan <br />in the Upper Colorado River Basin and that the study of pos- <br />sibilities of such storage on the Green and Gunnison rivers <br />be expedited and first constructed and that all studies be <br />made ajailable for consideration by the Colorado Water Con- <br />servat~on Board." <br /> <br />LARSON: When; this report comes from the Secretary of Interior in its refined <br />form, general distribution will be made according to the 1944 Flood Control Act. <br /> <br />DUCY: I move'the adoption of the resolution by this group. <br /> <br />PEABODY: Second the motion. <br /> <br />(Oral vote ca:t/ed for by chairman.) <br /> <br />CHAIRMAN: <br /> <br />Reaolution as read by Charles Beise is unanimously adopted. <br /> <br />CHAIRMAN: <br />tion, I believe. <br /> <br />Judge McHendrie, you represent the Arkansas Valley Ditch Associa- <br />Do ~ou have any comment? <br /> <br />McHENDRIE: I ~ in agreement with the members of the Water Development of <br />Southeastern Colorado~ I am not delegated to officially represent the Arkansas <br />Valley Ditch Association at this meeting, however, I am retained by that Associa- <br />tion as legal counsel~ I go along with Christy who is the Arkansas Valley Ditch <br />Association's represe~tative on the Gunnison-Arkansas Project First Phase Policy <br />and Review Committee. I also go along with the Water Development Association. <br /> <br />CHAIRMAN: Mr. :Christy, do you have any comment? <br /> <br />CHRISTY: Comm4nts I have just heard lead me to believe that some are placing <br />the wrong interpretat~on on our meaning of the resolution just passed. My own <br />thought would be that'lwe approve the plan in general and are willing to go along <br />with our sister.states and the western .slope in this program. <br /> <br />We Arkansas Valley people' have the utmost faith in the Colorado Conservation <br />Board and the Bureau "it: Reclamation. We want to see this Upper Basin plan developed <br />and we will cooperate tn any way that we can.
