.'

"

Metropolitan Water Supply Investigation Proposal
Hydrosphere, Inc.

Septmber 17, 1993
Page 46

Likely Sources of Information To Be Used

Information would be gathered from all of the water management entities discussed
above as well as from previously published studies.

Anticipated Problems

It is certain that multiple sources of information will be encountered in many areas due
to the number of entities involved, and it is likely that differing opinions, inconsistencies and
errors will be encountered. Discrepancies in data and assumptions will be noted and
reconciled based on the Project Team's professional review of the data and discussions with
involved panies.

While there may be reluctance on the pan of some participants to share certain areas of
information, we do not anticipate that this will be a major problem given the generally positive
response to the Project thus far.

The tendency will exist to continuously strive for the "best possible" data in support of
the Project's goals; however the budget and schedule dictate that a general protocol for
deciding what level of information is "good enough" will be necessary.

Deliverables

The Project Team will prepare a series of technical memoranda summarizing the results
of work meetings, major topics addressed, and categories of information inventoried, including
available modeling capabilities. Information and management tools that would be useful in the
evaluation of identified Project opportunities will be identified.

Cost

The initially estimated budget for this task is $40,000.

Special Studies - Barr lake Plan
Purpose

The purpose of this task would be to acquire the detailed information and data needed to
evaluate those aspects of the Barr Lake Plan selected for additional study in this Project. This
investigation would examine the operational aspects and physical features of the Barr system
and develop the data necessary for modeling various selected aspects of the Barr Lake Plan,

Methodology and Evaluation Techniques

Fundamental to understanding and evaluating the selected Barr Lake Plan scenarios will
be the acquisition of certain basic data and information regarding the existing operation of the
Barr Lake system. This task would be carried out by Hydrosphere, Spronlc Water Engineers
and HRS based upon their respective expertise and knowledge of the Barr Lake System.
Hydrosphere will provide overall review and synthesis of these investigations. While the
specific nature of these investigations will depend on the outcome of Scoping, the following
general approach and responsibilities are proposed.
