.'

2.

1963 Drought Conditions.

:1
I

Under conditions of a McBroom Ditch call of 6 cfs. the system

would require 163 acre-feet of storage to meet the total demand

and 18 acre-feet to meet the base use demand for 4,000 taps. Under

conditions of a McBroom Ditch call of 10.6 cfs, the system would

require 296 acre-feet of storage to meet the total demand and

107 acre-feet to meet base use demand for 4,000 taps. The system

could not meet the base use demand for 2,390 taps without storage

for McBroom calls of 6 and 10.6 cfs for this drought, being short

by 5 and 54 acre-feet, respectively. The. 1963 drought is much more

severe that the 1954, having a frequency of occurrence of once in

40 to 100 years on the average.

I
:1
i

:1
,

i:1

3. 1978 Drought Conditions.

This is the most severe drought on record with an expected

occurence of once in 70 to 100 years or more on an average. The

system ~lOuld require 260 acre-feet and 425 acre-feet of storage

to meet the tctal demand for 4,000 taps for McBroom Ditch Calls

of 6 and 10.6 cfs,. respectively. Base use demands for 4,000

taps could be met by provision of 70 acre-feet and 200 acre-feet

for the 6 and 10.6 cfs McBroom Ditch Calls. The system could

not meet base use demand for 2.390 taps for McBroom Ditch calls

of 6 and 10.6 cfs, being short by 25 and 113 acre-feet, respectively.

,"

4. Raw wate~ storage should be added to the system. A reasonable

approach to planning for storage would be to initially provide

130 acre-feet with subsequent studies as the system grows and

provision of ~dditional storage as appropriate. This approach can

take into account a phased expansion if the economics of such a

plan is justified. Studies should be made to determine the most

economic plan. The provision of 130 acre-feet will accomplish the

following:

-2-
