Interests below Rifle Gap Reservoir point out that with the

summer flow of East Rifle Creek largely diverted to the Silt

Project the domestic supply to Rifle Valley would be largely

from storage which they claim would impair the quality of the

water for domestic use. They contend also that West Rifle

Creek water is less desirable than that of East Rifle Creek

and suggest the construction of a pipe line fram Middle

Rifle Creek to bypass Rifle Gap Reservoir and supply domestic

water to Rifle Valley residents and possibly to the to~m of

Rifle which owns stock in Rifle Canyon Canal representing

about 1.5 second-feet of flow. Proponents of this plan claim

that the water of Middle Rifle Creek is of better quality for

domestic use than that of either East or West Rifle Creek.

It is not believed that storage in Rifle Gap Reservoir

will injure the water for domestic use as storage usally

50
