H~
ao
In
.-.!

TRANSMITTAL

could be formulated for the Cochetopa Creek Unit because of unfavorable
geological conditions at the available reservoir sites.

Although the Ohio Creek and East River Units were found to be eco-
nomically justified, they are not considered appropriate for Federal de-
velopment at this time because of their small size. They could be recon-
sidered for Federal development in the fUture if evaluation criteria and
economic conditions change so that it becomes appropriate to include ir-
rigation or other additional purposes in project development. At the
present time both the Ohio Creek and East River Units could be considered
for development by State or private interests. The East River Unit also
could be considered for development under the Small Reclamation Project
Act (Public Law 984 as amended).

The environmental effects of the Ohio Creek Unit would be minimal
as a buried pipeline would be the only construction feature. In the East
River Unit a small reservoir (4,IOO-acre-foot capacity) would inundate
some mountain valley lands and a short section of the stream fishery but
would provide new opportunities for flat water fiShing and recreation.

2
