of the Administration, these cooperative studies and actlvltles
are assigned to the Engineering Committee of the Administra-
tion.

(b) During the year covered by this report, the Administration has
received excellent cooperation from all agencies referred to in
the foregoing provisions of the Compact. The Corps of Engi-
neers continued to operate John Martin Reservoir in accordance
with the terms of the Compa.ct. The latest capacity ta.ble of
John Martin Reservoir, adopted as of June 1, 1958, was con'
tinul:d in use throughout the year. The United States Geo-
logical Survey has continued the operation of the Compact
gaging stations and the analyses and compilation of hydrologic
data presented in this report and used in the administration
of the Compact. To assist that agency in defraying the costs
of operating the Compact gaging stations and performing other
hydrologic work required in tne admin.istrzttion of the Compact,
tne Administration entered into a cooperative agreement with
the Geological Survey in the total amollnt of $3,000 (hfllf to
bc borne by c'h:h party) for the Fiscal Year 1961 (July I. 1960
to June ~n. ]9(1). Bubbler gages and tclemetering equipment will be in-
stalled at the two new stations and one existing station, which
is to be relocated. This equipment will facilitate the adminis-
tration of the waters of the Arkansas River.

7. Waler Supply, Reservoir Opemtions and Hydrologic Data

At the beginning of the Compact year, November 1, 1959, John
Martin Reservoir had only 930 acre feet of water in storage. This was a net gain
of 46,573 acre feet, constituting the second largest winter gain since
the first year of operation under the Compact. The gates remained
closed through April 23, 1960, at which time there were 56,860 acre
feet of water in storage.

9
