3

.

Since operations began under Minute No. 242, the following
quantities of Well ton-Mohawk drainage waters have been discharged
to the Colorado River below Morelos Dam and substituted for other
waters in making deliveries to Mexico:

Period Acre-feet Cubic Meters

June 25, 1974 through December 31, 1975 113,645 140,180,000

January 1, 1975 through December 31, 1975 214,729 264,866,000

Deliveries on the Land Boundary

Point 1 of Minute No. 242 further provides that:

"The United States will continue to deliver to Mexico on
the land boundary at San Luis and in the limitrophe'sec-
tion of the Colorado River dwonstream from Morelos Dam
approximately 140,000 acre-feet (172,689,000 cubic meters)
annually with a salinity substantially the same as that
of waters customarily delivered there."

.

The quantities of waters delivered to Mexico on the land boundary
at San Luis and in the limitrophe section of the river below
Morelos Dam, excluding the Well ton-Mohawk drainage waters, were:

Period Acre-feet Cubic Meters

June 25, 1974 through December 31, 1974 57,055 70,377,000

January I, 1975 through December 31, 1975 107,916 133,113,000

The deliveries in the limitrophe section below Morelos Dam amounted
to only 575 acre-feet (709,000 cubic meters) in the approximately
six-month period in 1974 and only 1,146 acre-feet (1,413,000 cubic
meters) in calendar year 1975. The decrease in deliveries on the
land boundary and in the limitrophe section below Morelos Dam in
calendar year 1975 from the annual volume of 140,000 acre-feet
(172,689,000 cubic meters) referred to in the Minute, ,was made up
by waters delivered to Mexico in the bed of the river above
Morelos Dam as is required by Point 1 of the Minute. The reduction
in the amount of water delivered across the land boundary at San
Luis from the annual volume of 140,000 acre-feet (172,689,000 cubic
meters) referred to in the Minute reflects the effects of pumping
from the groundwaters by the Yuma Mesa wells and by Mexican wells
near San Luis.

.
